LEIP! Festival 2024

Students enjoyed underground rave and festival full of surprises during LEIP! 2024

On Thursday, September 12, the Oldehoofsterkerkhof in Leeuwarden became the vibrant center of LEIP! Festival 2024. Enthusiastic students, from mbo to PhD students, celebrated together the end of the introduction weeks and the start of the new academic year with a grand party.

We enjoyed performances by De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig, Turfy Gang, and SERA. Also on stage were Steff da Campo, Daredevils, ALL THA FOKK, No Heroes, and Kroegtijgers. The festival offered five “areas” with various styles of music, allowing each student to create their own festival experience. The DJs played from a specially built tower above the audience, making for an impressive setting.

Surprising additions: rave and silent disco

This year's first was the Secret Stage in the parking garage, organized entirely by mbo students from Firda. Here, student DJs played hard techno beats during a unique silent rave. Visitors enjoyed the music through headphones, which prevented nuisance. This underground rave in “Oldehove -2” had never been organized before and attracted many enthusiastic visitors. The rainbow tent, Leeuwarden's largest silent disco, was also successful. There was also the Leeuwarden Bar Roulette, a “saloon” where local pubs set their atmosphere and music and provided a pub crawl on location.

Attention to wellness: “Are you okay?” campaign

During the festival, in cooperation with the municipality of Leeuwarden, attention was drawn to the “Are you okay?” campaign. At the city hall, the words “Leeuwarden is okay” were projected to stimulate conversation about welfare and safety among students.

Closing with energy

The festival ended splashing with an energetic performance by Daredevils on the main stage. LEIP! Festival 2024 contributed to a festive start of the new academic year for all students in Leeuwarden.
